AskPubs PBS Import — privacy
Chrome extension · applies to build 0.1.48 and later · last updated 12 October 2026
The short version. This extension collects nothing, stores nothing about you,
and sends nothing anywhere. It runs entirely inside your own browser, on one website, and the
only server it ever talks to is the PBS site you are already logged into.
What it collects
Nothing. No personal information, no health or financial information, no authentication
information, no messages, no location, no browsing history, no activity analytics.
What it stores
Only your own bid, in Chrome's own local extension storage on your computer. All of it stays on
this machine, and removing the extension removes it:
- A record of each import — the lines it added and the lines it replaced — so Undo can
put back exactly what you had and nothing else.
- A snapshot of your bid as it stood just before an import, so the panel can tell what
changed.
- The read-back the extension takes after each import (what PBS shows on your bid), and the
last result, so the panel can show it again after you reload the page.
- Where an Undo has got to, so an Undo cut short can finish without doing anything twice.
- The ids of the reserve bids this extension added, so a later import changes only those and
never a reserve bid you typed in PBS yourself.
None of it ever leaves your machine, and none of it is sent anywhere.
What it sends, and where
- To
pilotpbs.aa.com — the bid lines you reviewed and approved, using the session
you are already signed into. This is the whole purpose of the extension.
- To AskPubs — nothing. The extension has no AskPubs server address in it and makes no
request to one. Moving a bid in either direction is a copy and a paste that you do.
- To anyone else — nothing. There are no analytics, no telemetry, no error reporting,
no third-party services of any kind.
Where it runs
Only on https://pilotpbs.aa.com/*. That is the extension's single host permission,
declared in its manifest and enforced by Chrome. It cannot read or act on any other site — not
your email, not your company intranet, not any other tab, and not AskPubs.
What it can do to your bid
- It makes your monthly bid match the Bid Builder bid you pasted: layer by layer it keeps the
lines that already match, removes the ones that differ and adds what is new — reserve layers
included. It never touches your Standing Bid, carry-in trips, or lines (reserve ones too) you
typed in PBS yourself.
- Preview shows you every change first, and it writes nothing until you press Update.
- Undo puts back exactly the bid you had before the import.
- It never sees or handles your password. You sign into PBS yourself.
Permissions, and why
storage — to remember what an import changed, so Undo is exact. Local only.
host_permissions: https://pilotpbs.aa.com/* — to show its panel on the PBS page
and to write the lines you approved. It is scoped to that one site deliberately.
Who this is from, and what it is not
AskPubs is an independent tool built for line pilots. It is not affiliated with,
endorsed by, or operated by any airline. PBS is operated by your employer; this extension simply
fills in a form on it for you, the way you would by hand.
Changes and contact
If this ever changes — and collecting nothing is a deliberate design choice, not an accident —
this page changes with it and the date above moves. Questions go through the AskPubs app.
